3Day Kitchen and Bath is unique in the kitchen and bath remodeling industry. Learn how this company came to be and why it is so transformative!
In 1995 Dave Jensen had an idea. He had done some reading, talked with some fellow HVAC professionals and friends, and was determined to make a change in his career and in the remodeling industry. Everything seemed to fall in place as he developed a process that he believed would produce timely and efficient kitchen and bath renovations for clients in his community of Cache Valley, Utah.
Daring ideas are like chessmen moved forward. They may be beaten, but they may start a winning game.
– Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
The Idea
Was it possible to complete a kitchen renovation in just 3 days? If it WAS possible, it would flip the remodeling industry in favor of the client, by avoiding the national average of 3 months for a kitchen redo and 6 weeks for a bath. Dave took the idea seriously and developed a process he believed would work.
The Process
Today, the process is described in 3 Easy Steps. But the actual work is anything but easy! It takes a lot of groundwork and selling for suppliers who are accustomed to working in an extended timeframe to make materials available. For instance, it took some convincing for Dave to find a cabinet provider that would deliver the cabinets and the countertops at the same time. Typically, cabinet makers prefer to measure once the cabinets are in and come back 10 days later with the countertops. Dave didn’t have time for that.
With 3Day, everything is front-loaded. Materials are onsite when the project begins, and a crew is dedicated to completion of the renovation on time.
“Usually when you sign a contract for a remodel, a dumpster is delivered the following day. And then later, someone shows up to get started on the work. The project can drag on for weeks because of variables like weather, crew availability, and waiting on materials to be delivered. Not with 3Day Kitchen & Bath. The crew takes care of plumbing, electrical, installation, and cleans up too – all within the timeframe agreed upon.”
– Allison, from Lincoln Nebraska
Dave would add: Satisfaction Guaranteed! Completing the job in 3 days doesn’t mean that quality of workmanship is lost – quality becomes the focus – and making sure the client is happy with the job (and the experience), the ultimate goal.
The Test
In October of 1997 it was time to test the process. The very first client was Eva Hatch, a friend’s mother-in-law. The project began on Tuesday. It included a complete custom renovation of the kitchen from floor to ceiling — literally, from new flooring to new paint on the ceiling and everything in between. On Friday, they did a walk-through with Eva and her son-in-law. They were so impressed!
