Kitchen Remodeling in St. Louis, Missouri
Walls opened to the living room, new islands, granite counters: St. Louis kitchens planned around how your household cooks and gathers.
St. Louis Kitchens, Planned Before a Wall Comes Down
Many older St. Louis kitchens are closed off from the rest of the house and short on counter space. Mike Wallace's crew regularly takes out a wall to open the kitchen to the living area, then adds an island, new cabinetry and new flooring. Every cabinet, counter and fixture is chosen with Mike and Kendra before demolition, so the crew shows up with all of it ready.

A More Open Kitchen for Entertaining in Chesterfield
This Chesterfield, Missouri home, built around 1965, had a kitchen with poor flow, limited storage and lighting, and soffits the homeowners wanted removed. Their priorities were a better layout for entertaining, more storage, and additional island seating.
Mike Wallace’s St. Louis team opened the kitchen and bar area to the living room, removed the old pantry and soffits, and added a central island and a custom window seat. Removing a load-bearing wall required an engineer’s load calculations and permit coordination with St. Louis County. Electrical runs and plumbing vents also had to be relocated, including an unexpected vent discovered during demolition.

Storage, lighting, and a place to gather
The updated kitchen combines Koch Marquis Shaker-style cabinetry with honed Ivory Mist quartz countertops. Pendant lights over the island and LED recessed lighting brighten the space, while brushed-nickel fixtures and matte-black Amerock cabinet hardware provide contrast.
The photos show the change from dark cabinetry and counters to a lighter, more open kitchen, with a separate beverage area and a stronger connection to the adjoining living space.
Custom Choices, Settled Up Front
Cabinet layout, countertop size, a built-in desk, where the island sits: each is decided with Mike and Kendra before demolition, so nothing gets guessed at mid-project.

Done in Days, Not Months
How long does a kitchen remodel usually take?
That depends on the approach. Because every decision is made and every material is on hand before we start, our part is measured in days.
Most projects finish in 3 to 7 days; larger or multi-room projects run longer, shown by the lighter bar. Ranges for the other approaches are industry averages from our remodeling FAQ. Your project’s exact timeline is quoted in writing and guaranteed before work begins.

Questions we get
Questions St. Louis homeowners ask
Can you take out a wall to open my kitchen?
Opening the kitchen to the living room is one of the most common kitchen projects this team does in St. Louis. Mike looks at the wall during the free consultation, talks through what removing it involves, and builds that into the written price and schedule before anything is torn out.
How long will a St. Louis kitchen remodel take?
Most kitchens fall within the usual 3 to 7 days on site. A kitchen that also loses a wall, gains an island or gets new floors throughout can take longer. You will know the expected length in writing before demolition, along with the price.
Where do I pick out cabinets and countertops?
Selections happen with Mike and Kendra before the work is scheduled. You can see cabinets, sinks, flooring and fixtures at the Collinsville showroom, just across the river, and Mike has met homeowners to help choose granite countertops. Everything is ordered and on hand before the crew starts.
Can you add an island or more counter space?
Yes, where the room allows. St. Louis homeowners have added islands after a wall came down, and one kitchen gained a larger countertop by removing a raised upper level. Mike will measure and show you what fits during the consultation.
Do I need to leave home during a kitchen remodel?
Crews work from early morning into the evening, so many households find it easier to stay elsewhere for those days. Some homeowners have been out of town for much of the project and returned to a finished room. Mike will talk through living arrangements with you at the consultation.
What if I want something small, like a built-in desk?
Smaller additions are welcome. St. Louis homeowners have added a kitchen desk with a cabinet above it alongside other work. Bring the list of what bothers you about your current kitchen, and Mike will price the pieces together in one written quote.
